She’s striking, admirable, cheery.
And she is also holy and loving, sincere and benevolent.
It’s an automatic smile when her laughter floats into the room. In fact, that contagious melody usually precedes her like unrestrained, effervescent joy. It’s absolutely splendid. The whole room ratchets up a notch or two on the happy scale just hearing her around the corner.
She is my very dear friend, a fountain of faith and dedicated to Our Blessed Mother Mary.
Somehow, she finds the time to stop and buy roses, a birthday gift for me. Nevermind that her own special day is tomorrow and activities flurry on her schedule with her own birthday plans and her client appointments swirl through her day.
She sets in front of me a trio of perfect pink rosebuds displayed in a clear, crisp block of classy glass. Deep green ferns laced with baby’s breath, hold them snugly in an elegant pose.
“Here. I was thinking of you for your birthday,” she said. “I thought you might like these.”
Wow! They are gorgeous and totally unexpected.
Where does she find the time?
When does the thought of my birthday cross her mind?
What prompted her to think of me?
How could she begin to know how much her gift could touch my heart?
She is simply amazing.
Sometimes I think Our Blessed Mother Mary sort of cascades into her head and then just pours forth through her as a soulful laugh, a beautiful smile, and warm hug. What a fine, precious vessel!
May God bless you, Tawnya, a splendid rose.
